All students MUST complete an Audition Registration Form and return the form with $15 audition fee to the MOP office prior to the audition. Get the AYS audition form HERE. Get the BSO and BPS audition form HERE. Each form lists the audition requirements for that orchestra.

The auditions on May 18-21 will be held at Phillips Academy (MOP Offices). The auditions on Saturday will take place at Samford University's Brock Music Building. Regular rehearsals for each orchestra will begin in August.

The month of May is always busy at MOP! We celebrate the end of a school year and begin looking ahead to the next. 

Make plans to join us at one of the upcoming MOP events. All MOP concerts are free and open to the public.

The annual Showcase Recital will be Sunday, March 1st at 3:00 p.m. This event is notable for bringing all parts of the Music Opportunity Program together in one concert. The afternoon will begin with students from the String Academy - beginner students from around the Birmingham area. This is the very first concert for many of these young musicians! Following the String Academy, all three of MOP's youth orchestras will take the stage. Please join us for this free event and invite friends.

The 2014-15 concert season of the Alabama Youth Symphony kicks off this Sunday. The Fall Concert will be held at Indian Springs School's Concert Hall. This FREE concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Invite your friends and family to a great afternoon of entertainment and support young musicians in Birmingham.

How can you help? 
SHARE our Fun Pasta website with neighbors, friends, and co-workers AND PURCHASE pasta from one of our orchestra students. Every sale helps support our group and gets us closer to our goal.  The products are healthy, fun, and affordable – and make great gifts, too!

If you purchase pasta through the brochure (ask one of our orchestra students for a copy!) - MOP gets 50% of the profits! Out-of-town relatives and friends can also order directly from the website!  40% of these sales go directly to us! (excludes shipping cost). There is a flat rate shipping charge of $6.95, but they ship within a couple of days, and our relatives can easily support our group!

And remember: Brochure Orders and Money Collection Envelopes are due September 22nd. Online orders will be accepted through October.

The 2014-15 MOP calendar of events will posted soon! We are looking forward to a wonderful year of music!

The first AYS rehearsal will be Sunday, August 24th from 2:30-5:30.

The first BSO & BPS rehearsals will be Monday, August 25th. BSO will rehearse at 5:30. We will have a parent info meeting for BOTH orchestras from 6:45-7:15. BPS will rehearse following the meeting until 8:30.
