Play in an orchestra


The Music Opportunity Program offers three all-city youth orchestras at graded ability levels, allowing your child to perform with their peers from their elementary years all the way through high school.

The Birmingham String Orchestra is an entry-level youth orchestra. 

The Birmingham Prelude Strings is an intermediate orchestra for advancing musicians. 

The Alabama Youth Symphony is a full orchestra for advanced student musicians.

Chamber Music opportunities are also available for students to play in smaller groups. Chamber groups rehearse and perform with coaching from professional musicians.  This MOP program is available for all youth orchestra members.
