Once payment is processed, we will contact you via email to schedule an audition date/time. ALL students (including returning students) are required to re-audition each May to allow faculty to evaluate student progress and orchestra placement.
Audition Requirements:
Alabama Youth Symphony
Woodwinds & Brass - 12 Major Scales, 3 Minute prepared excerpt from solo or etude, Sight Reading
Percussion - Scale on Keyboard instrument, prepared excerpt on Timpani, prepared excerpt on Snare
Strings - 1 Major Scale (2 or 3 octaves), 1 Melodic Minor Scale (2 or 3 octaves), 3 Minute prepared excerpt from solo or etude, Sight Reading
Birmingham Prelude Strings
2 octave Major Scale, 2 octave Minor Scale, Prepared Solo Piece, Sight Reading
Birmingham String Orchestra
1 octave Major Scale, Prepared Solo Piece, Sight Reading
